“Exploring Louisiana — a guide to the best B&Bs and attractions off the beaten Path”

Bocage (my top B&B pick in the area). The historic plantation which has been the subject of several books, recently underwent an extensive restoration and is open to the public for the first time. It is furnished with many important pieces created by the great furniture makers of the period such as Mallard, Belter, Roux, Meeks and Lee. The art and antiques were acquired by the owner over the past 20 years.

Breakfast (made to order) is served on Limoges china with sterling flatware and crystal stemware in an elegant dining room with fine art and antiques.

There are double parlors on both the first and second floors, and the guest rooms feature all of the modern amenities that you would expect when staying at a luxury hotel, including modern private baths with steam showers, plush robes, flat-screen TVs hidden in armoires, and complimentary hi-speed internet. A complimentary glass of wine upon arrival and evening snacks are among the many perks.
